The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has implemented a Sustainable Transport Project; that is, emissions-free transport. This project aims to promote a global transition to zero and low-emission mobility to improve air quality and mitigate climate change. To achieve the overall objective of this project, countries and cities will be supported to develop and implement zero- and low-emission transport policies and strategies with the following three outcomes considered: (i) countries/cities are switching to more efficient vehicles, including electric mobility, (ii) countries/cities are opting for cleaner fuels — low-sulfur fuels — and vehicle emission standards, and (iii)) countries/cities develop and implement policies that give the priority to infrastructure for walking and cycling.

This small-scale financing agreement (SSFA) contributes to the achievement of the objectives of this project, by supporting national awareness of low-sulfur fuels in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is in this context that, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MEDD) through its Department of Sustainable Development (DDD) with the technical and financial support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), recommends organizing a workshop to validate by stakeholders the stakeholders of the roadmap on the adoption of environmental standards for low-sulfur fuels (clean fuel) for the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The main objective is to validate the national road map on the adoption of environmental standards for low-sulfur fuels (clean fuel) for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
